Boeing 777X Buildings 40-58

Aerospace, Automotive, and Mass Transit

This 1.6 million SF aircraft manufacturing facility—measuring approximately 975' by 1,250' with ceilings over 100' high—was built on an accelerated 18-month schedule. While the initial phase was completed in the first year, the full project, including manufacturing expansions, spanned three years. PPC logged 104,708 hours without a single time-loss incident.

Challenge

The 50-foot-high roof trusses, combined with a suspended platform below the bottom chord, presented significant access challenges that required strategic planning to complete roof structure coatings efficiently and on schedule.

Solution

To meet the construction schedule, PPC strategically positioned shared access equipment to enable efficient transitions between tasks, minimizing delays. This collaborative approach reduced equipment relocation needs and, through coordination with subcontractors, helped the general contractor save time and costs by limiting overhead work disruptions.
