CH4 NGWP
Converting a machine shop into a cleanroom. This project involved converting an existing machine shop into a cleanroom within the southwest corner of CH4 NGWP at the Intel Chandler site. Scope of work included surface preparation and application of CRC floor coating, as well as painting gypsum wallboard (GWB) walls and ceilings in accordance with project plans and specifications.
Abrasive blasting to remove dryfall paint and achieve the required substrate profile for epoxy application posed challenges—especially in an active facility—due to technical, environmental, and logistical constraints essential for proper coating adhesion and durability.
Abrasive blasting in an active facility requires strict containment to avoid disrupting operations and protect personnel and equipment. PPC used vapor blasting and shrink-wrapped enclosures with negative air and filtration systems to control dust and comply with safety and environmental standards, ensuring safe, efficient execution without cross-contamination.
